Dear Candidate.
We have open positions for Experienced Sommeliers with a Luxury River Cruise Line.
Job Summary
§ Greet Guests, provide them with prompt and courteous service and promote Wine sales in all Food and Beverage outlets.
§ Maintain the highest standards of cleanliness in all Food and Beverage outlets.
§ Provide a six star service to all Guests and deal with complaints and comments in an efficient and timely manner.
§ Additional duties in other departments such as loading, luggage-handling, etc.
Requirements
§ European Union Passport
§ College Degree/Diploma, etc. Hotel School in the food service industry required.
§ Minimum 3 years experience in a luxury international hotel as a Sommelier or 2 years experience in the luxury cruise ship industry as a Waiter or Bar Waiter with Wine experience preferred.
§ Must be willing to undergo "Court of Master Sommeliers" courses and onboard USPH training.
§ Good product and beverage knowledge
§ Very good spoken English (needs to score at least 80% in the onboard English proficiency test).
Job Description
§ Prepare for Wine Tasting Seminars with Celebrity Wine lecturers and Vintage Room dinners.
§ Ensure that Wine stations are set up properly with Wine lists, glasses and ice buckets. And the wine lists are up to date in all Food and Beverage outlets.
§ Promote the Connoisseur’s wine program and make wine suggestions according to the daily menu for Lunch and Dinner.
§ Follow the proper cleaning and maintenance procedures of equipment in Bars and Pantries, and keep Lockers organized, clean and tidy.
§ Ensure that all equipment is properly and securely stored away when not on duty and to keep assigned area clean and tidy.
§ Report work orders to their Supervisors when deficiencies are noted or when maintenance is required and to follow up on the work orders in a timely manner.
§ Follow and execute the Shipboard Sanitation Programs.
Financial Responsibilities
§ Expected to exceed all relevant onboard revenue targets.
§ Promote Wine sales in all Food and Beverage Outlets.
§ Keep an accurate record of assigned Wine stock and held responsible for any losses.
§ Ensure that Guest sign their checks and that the checks are made out to the correct.
§ Ensure that Company property is maintained properly and treated with respect at all times.
Skills
§ Good communication skills.
§ Must have very good organizational skills and show attention to detail.
§ Must have initiative and the ability to work independently.
§ Must be able to remain calm under pressure.
§ Must be service minded with an outgoing, charming and friendly personality.
